GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE
Thailand is, like Italy, the northern hemisphere, covering an area of 513,115 km square and is bordered to the west and north to Myanmar (Burma), to the northeast with Laos, Cambodia and East with on the south by Malaysia. Whether for reasons of geography, both for the different characteristics of its people, it is natural to divide it into four broad areas.
- The central region
- The plateau of north-east or Isaan
- The mountainous region of North
- The southern peninsular region
Its 2710 km. the west coasts are bathed by the Andaman Sea (Indian Ocean) and east by the Gulf of Siam (in turn adjoins the South China Sea).
As it develops its territory embracing more vertically than 16 ° latitude, climate, Thailand has probably the most diverse of all the South-East Asia. The climate of Thailand, in fact, is affected by monsoons that produce three seasons of weather in the north, east and center, and only two in the south.
Three seasons in the area of south-west monsoon is active from early summer until late November resulting in abundant rainfall from November to March the weather is dry with temperatures, especially in the far north, may be low compared to rest of the country (at night the temperature can drop to 15 ° C), while from March to may, emperature reached maximum values and sporadic rainfall may also occur. The hot and dry season, the north has longer duration (up to 6 months) and decreases as you move towards the south until it meets the southern peninsular Thailand, the area where the two seasons, because of the northeast monsoon east, the rains may occur from May until the end of December.
