The smell of Bangkok

Bangkok, despised by many for its smell (or scent, depends on taste) of the Chinese restaurant open air, mixed with stratospheric levels of smog, has been our home for most of your stay. Before I tell you I forget also that the holiday time was 8 to 27 September and then in the middle of the rainy season, which, fortunately for us, have fallen only a couple of times during the day so torrential, but also this is an experience, especially when you're alone with your wife under a tarpaulin in one of the many slums that arise between a skyscraper and a megasupermercato the center of Bangkok ... shocking!

The capital of Thailand, in my opinion is something unbelievable, even though I knew by heart the guidance of the Lonely Planet Bangkok has managed to amaze me in more than one occasion. The smell is really strong already just outside the airport which is located about 30 km from downtown Bangkok, and reached incredible peaks in the central districts.
Here not only cooked food in the many outdoor kiosks contribute to "perfuming" the environment, but we also find the sewers and the smog that you can almost cut with a knife!

I want to emphasize, however, that this is not the practice, or rather, it is the practice of continuous fragrance feel a spring roll and not always smells incredible ... at least that does not even love the smell of spring roll or incurred in that case ...
, or leave immediately Bangkok: -)

The traffic and the foodBesides the smell, as already said, there is the traffic that is truly shocking and especially noisy because there are so many car or bus smarmittati, not to mention the thousands of TUC-TUC (Ape of wagons for the carriage of passengers) ubiquitous in all areas of the city.

Why not move with so little stuff can figure out by reading the sites that I have stated earlier, so I will not dwell on it.Wonders said ... from food: excellent, fragrant, spicy, oriental, not expensive (we spent more on cigarettes than for eating !!!). But we must adapt, in the sense that we ate almost always present in the kiosks along the streets, where hygiene definitely leaves something to be desired, but ... you can not have everything in life.

The food was still delicious, especially in remote districts of the capital ... and we're still alive, and certainly no illness during the trip, including the devastating diarrhea of the traveler who has always "accompanied" in our previous trips you eat ;-) everything from chicken skewers, fish, pork fragrant soups, fried rice or noodles to the skillet along with various vegetables, spices and meats of various kinds. There are some specialties (especially fish and chicken!) That necessarily something you have to order in restaurants, so do not tralasciatele, however, being careful to choose good restaurants (usually those which are full of Thais)
